Default Show me your "historical" hairstyles/tutorials!

I love history and I love hair. So it makes sense that any kind of historical or historically inspired hairstyles makes me a happy camper
I'm always looking for new styles so I thought - who better to come to than the LHC?

So - post any pictures, tutorials etc. of "historical" hairstyles (accurate or not!) and feed my addiction! Time period doesn't matter - any will do!

    Thanks in advance

(P.S: if there is already a thread on this please direct me towards it )

Gibson tuck video was nice. Didn't really like the last youtube video you linked in. It's kind of a mess. The girl is hair care challenged, it appears to me, too.

But what do I know?!! LOL

    Thank you for sharing, nevertheless.

One thing I notice in boatloads of these videos is that all these women are videoing in their bathroom or bedroom with really crappy backgrounds. I liked Gibson Girl because it was a clean background so it revealed what she was doing, step by step, more clearly.

I also think that videos should focus a bit more on hand placement. I find that updo work is about where you place the hands, and when. Not quite so much what the hair is doing when. That's secondary, it seems to me. Of note, where the thumbs go. Such as a braid, the thumb holds the braid made so far in place and manages the firmness or tightness of the weave.

I really want to make youtube videos because a lot of these updos cannot be done or done so easily at my hair length. Not a lot of info for updos on very long hair, it seems to me.

I hope you do, Heidi! I've love to see what you can do with your wonderful tresses!

What bugs the socks off me is that the lighting is poor on many videos..and the sound is muffled.

I'd really love it if someone could actually ZOOM IN on the area in question so the technique could be seen more plainly. Most of the dark haired videos are lost on me because I can't make out details.

Lighter hair color is so much easier to watch, as far as hair technique is concerned.
