That's so beautiful! But how do you tie the little strands? I kan imagine how you do it if there were four but not three.

I made a purple one last night, and a multi-earth-tone today - love these! I can't do the wool yarn, due to vicious wool allergies, but plain old yarn yarn seems to be working just fine. Thanks for the idea and instructions!

I read in here somewhere that someone felt the wool yarn was a bit more drying for their hair. Has anyone tried to use some silk yarn to make one? I know the yarn is thinner then wool or regular yarn due to the nature of silk itself. I think I am going to try making one out of it, the silk yarn that is and see how it works. If anyone else has tried this could you share your experience with it?

Well not sure how I missed that awesome pic. Quick question, silk floss as in embrodery (sp?) floss? If so I wonder how much thinner it is then silk yarn?? Now you have me curious lol

I made mine out of cotton yarn and it worked great.

The only problem I can see with silk (and rayon) is that it can be very slippery. Depends on the yarn though.

If you soaked a wool paranda in conditioner (and let dry) before using it would be a lot softer and less drying.

Yep, embroidery floss - I used Trebizond. The silk yarns I found online were much more expensive (and gave me way more than I needed). Ordering floss let me check out a bunch of colors for the same price as one skein of the yarn. I am still tempted to try the yarn, although it would be both a gamble and a splurge.

    Here's mine!

I used 8 ply merino wool in grey. It blended my brassy dyed ends beautifully! I also loved having a braid so long It was easy to french braid it into my hair and I didn't need any clips to hold it.

I've bought some hand-dyed silk yarn now and will try that next
