Ellethwyn, I find my hair has to be pretty heavily oiled for the ends to not stick out in any braid (paranda or no, but it works with parandas, too). The downside is I end up needing to wash my paranda every so often (not the worst, but detangling can be a hassle).

I just got a new green paranda to play with...I'm still trying to figure out how to hide the top of the paranda in a french braid (50/50 success rate usually!), but I wrapping the braid over the knot seems to work just fine!

Here's mine for the day.... my hair is finally growing out from the big cut and is long enough to wear these again, which makes me very happy!

Hi AmberJewel. Allow me to give you a very personal opinion on what you said : if you do love your parandi, what's the importance of what a bunch of stupid idiots think ?? If they are unable to see the difference between hair and polyesther, wool, silk or whatever, they will be even more unable to appreciate the true beauty of natural authentical hair versus just ordinary mistreated hair or extensions. So go for what you love and let the people talk (or dye their hair, or whatever). Nobody has ever been able to stop people talking, especially the ones who have the less interesting to say. And if they ask you "is this your natual hair ?" say "yes, it is ! didn't you know some people can grow polyesther directly from their scalp ?" And if they say "OMG !", reply "no : GMO"

Ok these might not be practical for my hair in an updo but as a long braid they might look quite nice.

I'm presently growing in my tinsel silvers and was told that these might help with the transition but I'm not sure.
Maybe a really thin one. I certainly don't need the extra bulk.

Me too! I used some extensions to make my paranda.

Thank you, Mimha! For the bun I used two thinner Parandis in two english braids. It's an Oval Bun that turned out to be round

I may try this one day to add colour and a different texture. I don't want to use hair extensions due to the way they're manufactured irritates my skin. I've thought of yarn braids. It's just that they can get too heavy when wet and I'd need to rinse my hair at least twice a week. With a paranda, it'd be easy to just undo it quickly for the wash. Since I've got shorter hair I'd go for two French braids or the milkmaid braid look.
