    Beautiful parandas (parandi?) everyone!

Question: Do you the braid waves you get with a paranda, or just a plain braid?

swords & roses, the way that I've gotten my paranda to stay right at the base of my ponytail is I took a crochet hook and pulled a ponytail elastic up through two points near the center of the loop junction at the top of the paranda. Then I looped one of those through the other and pulled it tight. This secured an elastic to the top of my paranda, so I can use it to put in the ponytail and it secures the junction right at the base where I want it.
    Hope that helps!

For those who put their paranda into a plain braid (not a french braid): any of you having an issue with the top of the paranda slipping down a bit? I've gotten pretty good at keeping things tight at the top, but by the time I'm done, the knot of the paranda is always lower than the start of my braid, both when I start with a ponytail & when I start loose/without a ponytail. *grump*

I saw that the french braiders have a couple tricks to getting the paranda to stay put, but I don't recall seeing any for us basic braiders.

You can also just loop-over-loop cinch the elastic around one of the three braids right at the top, which I did at first. It was just a little too off-center for me long-term, but for a quick fix, it works fine.

Does anybody prefer doing Hawser braids with parandi? I do, and I've found that doing a True Lover's Knot at the top works out better for me than doing the loop through loop method. This would only work for 2/4 strand braid types though.

Picked up some new yarn yesterday to make more parandas.
