Default Sage or other naturual tint for white/grey hair

Has anyone used sage to color white or grey hair? I would like a natural or antique white tint over the white/ grey look. They say sage darkens but what will it darken white to?

The lady who told me that she colored her hair with nothing but sage had hair that looked dark slate gray.

Sage, if used over a period of time will eventually darken hair but it won't darken white hair.

    How do you use sage?
2c, average and healthy black platinum hair, MBL
My hair loves stearamidopropyl dimethylamine, protein, preening, oils, and plopping
My hair hates distearyldimonium chloride, quaternium-87, phenoxyethanol, brushes
