Okay, I added almost a 1/2 tablespoon of oatmeal milk and honey fragrance. Smells nice. Will attempt to wash with it now.
    Rest in peace, little kitty.

That sounds like a nice smell! Keep us posted!

Sceleste, that sounds terrible! So, can you share how you use the powder (recipe, method, etc)?

I feel your pain!!!This happened to me twice. My brother thought i was crying for some reason. It definitely wasn't fun at all. But now when i use powder, i obviously close my eyes but instead of using wide mouth container i have been using a small bottle with very small opening so its easier to pour the liquid on my head and not on my face.

I usually strain the liquid before using it but one time I was in a hurry so I just poured the liquid and the wet powder to my hair. Everything went well until I started rinsing and did not keep my eyes closed. Everyone who has had soapnut liquid in their eye knows it doesn't feel too good. Well, I can tell you soapnut powder in the eye feels worse.

I had a tiny grain in my left eye for two-three hours. I didn't see it but I felt it. My eye was burning, I was in a lot of pain and rinsing eye with water only resulted in more pain. I couldn't keep my eye open at all. It was late in the evening and I hoped I don't have to go to the doctor.

Luckily the grain came out on it's own. I simply felt an immediate relieve in pain and touched the inner corner of my eye, and there it was.

Ever since I have ALWAYS strained the soapnut liquid.

Three teaspoons of powder in one cup of hot water, let it sit for an hour or two, then strain. I don't boil water but use as hot tap water as possible, and either use a strainer or a paper coffee filter. Pour liquid to scalp, massage and rinse after a couple of minutes.

The washing method is the same I used with whole soapnuts but with powder I don't let the liquid sit overnight, even 30 minutes is enough.

Nowadays I wash less and less with soapnuts. All the hassle making soapnut liquid is annoying. :P

BlackfootHair, sorry you got tangles! I wonder if that happens with the powder? I never get tangles with the foam.

Just wanted to report on my soapwort experiment today - it wasn't cleansing enough. My roots were very greasy. Soapnuts are still best for me! :-)

P.S. Using the foam has definitely cut down on getting it in my eyes, which I agree, is no fun!!

My hair got dry (=> tangled easily) from soapnut wash. It maybe was caused by me not preoiling.

    Did you preoil your hair?

Not heavily, but I do add DVCO to my hair while it's wet after washing.
    Rest in peace, little kitty.

I added loads of camellia oil after soapnut wash, and that seamed to protect my hair, but it took several days before it didn't have the dry tangling feeling.

What is DVCO? I looked in the LHC dictionary but didn't find an answer.
