Default What does henna look like on bleached hair?

What does henna look like on bleached or ldyed light blond hair?

I am debating or not if I should remove all the chemical dye off my hair and rehenna it. I once bleached it so I am wondering what colour the henna will be.

Would I ever be able to get a dark colour build up?

My hair was not super light blonde, more of a medium yellow I guess.

This is a more recent picture. It's kind of wet here, but if I show you a dry one, the camera flash always distorts and makes it lighter. It's close to this but a little brighter red.

    Thanks for answering so quickly.

    WOW,

What a difference Riot Crrl. Your hair colour looks similar to my unchemically treated henna hair.

Is that natural blond, or a bottle or from being bleached?

What kind of henna do you use.

    Have you ever used indigo?

How many layers of henna did that take?

It's good old drugstore boxes, not technically bleach, but with ammonia and peroxide.

I've been using Catherine Yemen. I did add some indigo one time, in a very small ratio of 4:1 henna:indigo. The indigo did tone the red, for a few days, after which time it seemed to wash out, as most dyes except henna do on my hair. What you are seeing is pretty much just 8 full strength hennas, 4 or 5 of which were left on a really long time.

Plus the fact that it's kinda wet there.

    Riot Crrl,

    Once again thanks for answering.

I have left mine in long most are 6 or 7 hours or over night.

I think my August plan will be to remove the chemical dye and re henna.

I like your bun. Mine never look so good. I wonder if it is because of the layers.

How are you going to do that, with something like ColorFix? I'm curious to see if it removes any henna. I've seen a few people reporting results of removing henna with that, but it seems on the majority the henna shrunk for a while then went back to pretty much what it was.

Do you mind if I ask, what is bugging you about having the chemical dye in there? Are you just wanting the henna brighter? One thing to consider is that if you have stopped bleaching now, there may be more of a demarcation line between henna-only and henna-over-bleach. One reason that I have hennaed as dark as I have is to blur the line. I probably have about 4 inches of henna-only in that second picture, and you can tell a slight difference but it's gotten so I'm pretty happy with it.

    Riot Crrl,

No I do not mind you asking at all.

I will try something like color fix or if there is another one. First I will need to see if I can get some.

What I do not like is the fact that the part that is chemically treated looks really dark and the colour is more red then the hair that has not been treated. I am hoping for a more even sheen then orange then red. I do not mind the orange sheen on the henna only section.

Ah, the treated part is too dark. That makes sense then. It's still a possibility that if the ColorFix (or other brand) works, the treated part will then be significantly lighter than the other part. You may be able to blend that with repeated hennas, though.

Other brands that I know of are ColorOops and Loreal's which I think is ColorZap. I think they all work on pretty much the same principle.

Strand test, as in do a bit of hair with the colour remover then henna it. I wish I have the patience. LOL.

What about strand testing the whole head? Just Kidding.

Here's what it looked like after Color Oops:

Here's what it looked like after a 50:50 henna:cassia (the flash makes the orange glow):
