I just finished growing out my natural color and bought my first hair toy to compliment the color. My hair color has changed so much since I started to grow it out natural (it is now shoulder length) and I am wondering, do I belong here?
My hair color is a dark brunette with auburn highlights. This summer I've seen more sun than I have in a long time so my auburn really stands out now. I love it!!

Thanks animetor7! I am excited to "be" something now! Other than bleach blonde....I look so much better after growing out all that! I love not having to go to the hair dressers - besides getting hair cuts. Just the smell of that stuff (bleach/dye) gives me a headache! LOL
I wish this mobile version allowed me to upload pics
What does freckles have to do with this? Just asking bc I see ppl posting about their freckles and eyes.
I have freckles and my eyes are the color of sweet iced tea
Redheads usually have freckles but not all auburns do so that is probably why it was discusses. I am not sure about eye color.
I have freckles. They come out on my face in the sun and a ton on my arms and randomly everywhere else too that stay there all the time. My eyes are blue.

All right fellow Auburn folks, is Auburn genetically considered red or brown?
So I looked up how red hair works, and as far as I understand, auburn is the result of people carrying one copy of a mutated gene as opposed to two copies that would result in fully red hair. This gene is also responsible for the characteristic pale skin and freckles that red-heads have. This helps explain why many (but not all) auburn-heads have similar coloring to "true" red-heads. I'll post again with a link in a bit.

My hair's natural color is kind of a dark chestnut brown. It looks brown indoors and auburn in the sun.
However, I've been coloring it with henna, so now it's definitely auburn.
