Question Tell me your braided length?

Apologies if this is the wrong forum...

I've been thinking about braided length vs. loose length lately, and wondered if there was a pattern to how much length is 'lost'. Does hair lose more length in one braid, or two, or Dutched, or Frenched, or what? Does longer hair lose more length, proportional to the length of hair, than short hair?

So, I was thinking about attempting to make a graph showing braided length vs. loose length, in an attempt at answering my questions.

However, I only have one head (surprise surprise), and instead of waiting a couple of years for my hair to grow and measuring it all the way, I thought I'd ask you lot if you'd mind telling my your braided/unbraided lengths

I don't particularly mind what sort of braid you measure, as long as you can let me know what sort it is, because obviously, a 5-strand Dutch-style braid is going to use up a lot more hair per inch than a standard English braid.

Anyone care to help me out?

    Here are my measurements:

    - Loose: 79cm/31 in

    - Normal English braid started at the nape (with a 8cm/3 in tassel):
    • 75cm/29.5in (not too tight, not too loose)
    • 70cm/27.5in (braided as tight as possible)
I'll make a French braid with one half of my hair and a Dutch braid with the other half later, I'll be back then with more measurements. Double braids should take up less length

Sorry don't have a good measure so have to do it like this:

Lose: longest hair about 1.5 cm above tail bone length.
Single 3 strand braid started at the nape with about 7cm tassle: longest hairs just reach hip length.

Overall I think it's a bout a 4 or 5 cm difference. I think very think hair will lose more length than thinner hair when braided.

    Default Tight-braid length

The hair tie on my braid (I braid tightly) falls right in the middle of my bum. You can see the length is just above knee/Nee. I'd say I "lose" 4-5 inches only because it's not very thick.

My hair loose is at classic and braided in a medium tight English or French braid (started halfway down my head) my hair reaches tailbone. That's about a 6 inch difference. My hair's about 40.5 at classic and 35 at tailbone.

About the same amount of lost length as Shell on the English braid exept my hair is at thigh, 45.5" and goes up to just a bit shorter than classic, 40-42" depending on tightness.

On French and Dutch braids my braid ends at tailbone.

I don't know in measurements, but my hair is a tad past tailbone. When english braided it is about hip. When french braided it is about waist.

Because I'm really bored I measured the braid my hair is currently in. My hair itself is about 37" long. The braid my hair is currently in is about 27" long, plus a tassel of about 6".
Thickness-wise it starts at about 3" at the nape and tapers gradually down to nothingness (hence the long tassel).
