Default Clarifying and deep conditioning when using cones

I am thinking of going back to cones because they prevent my hair from being knotty and make it very smooth, but I remember that my ends used to get dry and crunchy when using cones (usually John Frieda blonde S&C). Do you think that regular deep conditioning would work to prevent this, or would I have to clarify first to get the cones off so that the deep conditioner could penetrate?

Default Re: Clarifying and deep conditioning when using cones

I use cones and only clarify once a month. I wash an condition every other day (though I'm trying to stretch my washes) and I also used to find my ends would get crunchy. I've started coating the tips with EVOO about ten minutes before I get in the shower and the crunchy feeling is gone! So I don't think you need to clarify for deep conditioning treatments to penetrate.
    Hope that helps
