Try a peacock twist -- bring your hair into a ponytail, then twist it upwards and clip.
Or maybe twin pigtails or twin french braids?
ETA: half-ups would also be cute.
What is an easy easy updo I can learn with the length of hair I have now? Or is it too short to do anything other than a ponytail?
I can braid others hair but haven't learned to do my own yet.
Any suggestions would be great.

What Yozhik said, and you may do tucked-through ponytail (when you split hair above the pony holder and tuck the bunch into this hole), it looks nice and more fancy than regular pony.
Lace headbands and lace side rope braids, too.
Hair is like cat. You can't really tame it, you just have to care and enjoy.
You could also try Gibson Tuck.
You could do a single french braid that terminates at the base of the skull. I could do those when my hair was that length. I just tucked the tail up behind the braid. Turned out very elegant.
I love the sock bun! There are lots of online tutorials, including Loepsie's version for longer hair (file for future reference!), and Lianna's cute messy sock bun for shorter hair.
The Cheater's Easy Hairstick Bun might also work for you-- try it with a pencil if you don't yet have a hairstick.
Thanks guys! I'll check these out. I'd love to be able to french braid, but my fingers get so confused! Do you think having a mirror in front and behind me might help me?

My hair was your length before I cut a couple inches off out of frustration. I could do a peacock twist, a half up twist, and a french twisty-thing. I have pics in my album if you're curious.
A mirror could be helpful. I've never tried with a mirror. I just braided other peoples hair until it became second nature for my hands. It took me a couple tries to transfer that skill to my own head. There are many youtube tutorials on french braids. You should look at those and see if they help any. Good luck!
So I tried the peacock twist thingy... Is the hair supposed to stick straight up? I've got like 4-5" above the claw clip. Am I doing it wrong?
