Do you use heat styling? I tend to get those white dots from straigtening, blowdrying. What happens is the cortex of the hair comes to a boil and bursts which causes the white dot
The only way to prevent them is to avoid heat styling.
You can mend them with deep conditioning but they will have to be cut eventually...I have battled mine for a long time and am always happy to trim them since they caused tangling before

Is there any protein in the products you use? It could be too much protein.

I CO and I find I have more white dots and less splits, for some weird reason. I trim them all.

I have them too, but only at the ends of my hair. I don't heat style at all and I never have.

It could be too much protein and not enough moisture.

I get them occasionally... but not so much anymore since I quit chemical dye and heat. Of course, the lengths of my hair still have some damage, but I don't seem to get as many anymore.

I don't use protein or heat and I get them. I think they are just one form of split end.

Make sure it's not lint. I've cut off white dots before; turns out lint looks about the same as a ruptured hair.

Adding another one... mineral build up. Our water is really hard, and if I don't do regular vinegar rinses, I'll get white dots, because there is so much mineral build up on my hair.
