Default green smoothies for hair growth?

So...I stumbled upon this http://crunchybetty.com/clear-skin-f...reen-smoothies which says people who drink green smoothies reported speedier hair and nail growth and that hair was also shinier. Anyone want to get all scientific and explain why? Or is it fake? I'd much rather drink a nummy smoothie than eat garlic to make my hair grow :P

Could it be the abundant vitamin k in the greens?

I've been having green smoothies for breakfast pretty much every day since November, as well as dramatically increasing my veggie and fruit intake all around. I did this in general to improve my overall health and specifically for skin issues. I have not noticed an increase in growth rate, but that's just me, of course.

Green veggies are just great for your health, period.
When you're healthy, your hair is growing the best it can, usually.

I've been eating green smoothies every day for the last 3 years, eating around a pound of leafy greens a day, and my hair still only grows about 4 inches a year lol. at least your insides will benefit though

I don't have the answer, but those smoothies sound really good. I might have to try some. What a great way to get more veggies in...

Okay, SUCH an awesome site, one of which I did not have....thank you

I have been doing the green smoothie thing along with eating more RAW...that being said, my hair and nails have skyrocketed in growth and health. But, that is just me.

Increasing your fruit and vegetable intake is healthy, in fact the research supports optimal health benefits at nine portions a day. Drinking a green smoothie or eating it in a massive bowl of fruit salad is largely irrelevant, you will still be taking in vitamins, minerals, fibre and water. Green vegetables are no more healthy than any other brightly coloured one, health professionals advise is to eat a rainbow.

Kimberly Snyder (ks1life.com) has a book called the "Beauty Detox Solution" which is basically a raw-foodist/vegetarian/vegan type book. Her theory is when you ingest smoothies/juices/raw fruits and vegetables, your system is able to utilize the nutrients much more quickly and efficiently and so your body then has more energy to devote to beauty. This would in turn help with hair growth, skin cell regeneration etc. Just another source reporting that.
