putting pure indigo on your light hair just makes it looks dirty. greyish-green. so far I've only heard of people getting it blue, once it's really dark.
Hi All,
I want to dye my hair blue with indigo, has anyone here tried it? I have naturally very light and neutral hair color (like a very ash blond) so I'm not that concerned with turning my hair green, but I would like to know what type of effect it will have on my hair.
Thanks for any info you can give me!

This is the only info on dying hair with indigo alone I've found. Maybe it will be helpful. Henna For Hair also has a forum that specializes in henna/cassia/amla/indigo mixes so someone there might be able to give you more help. If you try it, tell us how it goes. Good luck.

Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for
I did see a piccy of a guy who did this and the indigo blue looked really nice.....I think it might have been on the Henna For Hair website under Indigo.
It didn't work for me. When I had my hair bleached WHITE, I tested a bit of indigo to get blue and it turned a nasty gray/blue/green. If you have naturally light hair and want to experiment with blues, get some Manic Panic or Special Effects or some other veggie dye brand.
