question, if your album is private on photobuck then it's not open to Google right? only if you post a photo in a thread it can then pop up on Google? is this correct... I don't think I would want any of my photos to pop up on Google
As I understand it the google spiders search the internet and make everything they can access available, if you are just using the right search words to turn it up in a search.
So if a picture title contains the search words, is tagged with those words or the picture is on a publicly accessible website containing those words it will be found via google (or other search engines).
Depending on the ranking of the site where the pic got published it will be on the first page or far down on page 275.
Public accessible flicker or photobucket accounts posted in a thread on LHC are usually in the top 3 pages. Site ranking seems to depend on how often the website is linked elsewhere and some other factors like your language settings or if you receive customized google results or switched off that feature.
Deleting a picture from photobucket will not immediately remove it from google images. It will stay stored in the google "memory" until the next spiderbotthingy was on that page to update the data google has.
However google can not make pictures stored in our LHC albums public. Those can just be viewed when logged in as a member of LHC with the 25+ posts user-status .[/end boring technical info ]

Grow grow grow, where it stops no body knows.
I am not using photobucket, so take this with a grain of salt, but I assume when you can show an image in a thread to everybody and there is no password required to view the image then yes, google will be able to find the picture via the thread. As long as you post the image in a public area of LHC, but friendship board or blogs require being logged in so those areas should be safe.
I hadn't even thought of my pictures showing up on google, but I searched a topic I had started a thread about and there I was! Along with two other LHCers I recognized.. The picture is my siggy and it was linked to a different thread that I had commented on.
Thanks for brining this up
Yeah I found myself on google far too much so I went back and deleted the pics I had posted in threads.
I don't like having a big flashing neon sign saying "this is me."
Try doing a google image search with your username + longhaircommunity and see what it throws up.

Stop cruelty to apostrophe's.
Be who you are... those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind
Ok so not to be freaky or anything but if I don't want a photo to show up on Google then should one post from their LHC albums? does this not show up. I did once Google my user name and yes my avatar photos did pop up, (reason I don't use my own photos) I only have posted my face in a couple of threads but I don't even have photos in FB (only profile photo) or even use my last name because I don't like having the "net" having that much info.. Just being kinda cautious any thoughts?
