I usually give it about two days. I usually wash my hair about every other day or every third day depending anyways. I haven't noticed any difference in the oxidation waiting three instead of two days.
I was just wondering when people generally wash their hair again after initially rinsing out their newly henna-ed hair? I just became a henna head two days ago, and I am wondering if I need to wait four days before washing to ensure complete oxidation. Does henna fade more if you wash your hair more like chemical dye, or is it more resistant? Thank you!

Everything comes gradually and at its appointed hour.~Ovid~Nae
In my experience, once the color's on there, it is ON there no matter how many times you do or don't wash it I usually wait a few days simply because that's how long it takes for my hair to look/feel dirty again, although there have been times I've washed the day after if I wasn't as thorough rinsing as I should have been, causing an itchy scalp.
F/ii/goodbye henna!
Good to hear! I will wait another day, then wash. I got a new bottle of hair oil (Cocoveda from Henna Sooq) so I really want to try it after I wash =)
I sometimes wash my hennamix out with shampoo, other times I just use conditioner to get it all out. For me there's absolutely no color difference between these two methods.
I wait a couple of days not because the colour fades but because henna can be drying.
Whenever it needs it
I wait 48 hours.
Thank you for the tips. I washed after two days, and I did notice a little yellow washing out that was just from excess henna mix still stuck in my hair, but the color didn't budge! I love the Cocoveda as well, it works and smells great!
