Pretty sure Jane53 is still trying to recover from her epic coconut oil disaster!
It just doesn't work for everyone, but that is okay, as long as your hair loves EVOO you might as well keep it happy.
..........WHY?????? I want so bad for it to but it just won't. I put coconut oil on last night as an overnight treatment and washed it out this morning and I've got "bleh", "meh", totally uninspired, and downright "blech" hair today. It's not my first time either. But once again, I've gotten a running start and slammed into that brick wall. I need to stop. Honestly.
I just don't understand why it won't work for my hair. EVOO works magically. I hear alot that sometimes it's too heavy for a lot of people but hair does fantastic with it. I guess I want it all. I want the wonderous magic of coconut oil, too. But apparently it's not meant to be.
Hey, maybe that's why the only shampoo bar that seems to work is the aloe from PLH - it's coconut oil free! hmmmm.....just thought of that. doh!
Anyone else's hair revolt with coconut oil?

Everything comes gradually and at its appointed hour.~Ovid~Nae
If it doesn't work on your hair it makes a fantastic skin moisturizer for some. Stick with what works, if EVOO does it then use that.

Maybe you're puttin too much? I know that is easy to do with coconut oil!
But maybe your hair just doesn't like it
Straightened.
My hair has a love/hate relationship with coconut oil.
Most of the time it doesn't like it. My bleached ends come out looking synthetic (like on a barbie doll); they are very shiny but strange at the same time. My non-bleached hair likes it but not as much as it likes EVOO.
Once in a while I will mix the two and it seems to work out well
I tried it yesterday for the first time too. My hair feels as dry as it was before, nothing special, no extra softness, or extra shine.
Whiteisle, did you apply it to dry or damp hair? I find coconut oil works best on my hair if it's damp. Jojoba is better on my dry hair. And I love EVOO on damp hair - fab!
Sooze - I did it on dry hair. That could be it I suppose....wait, nope. Just remembered that's not it either 'cause it stinks as a leave-in after washing too.

My hair is not crazy about coconut oil, loves olive oil. I've mixed coconut and olive oil together and my hair liked that much better than just straight coconut.
Instead of using it as a leave in, try applying to freshly washed damp hair. Leave for an hour, then wash out as normal. Don't add any extra after washing. See whether that helps.
