Anyone can write articles on Associated Content, so I would take everything you read there with a grain of salt. Sometimes a large chunk of salt is called for, as is the case here.

I can't see how, the only other way really is using a hair dryer which would be more likely to damage the ends and cause them to look thin?

Air drying for me = volume, maybe more than I want Even at the ends.

Um... that makes so sense! Lol, no worries, sug, air drying is definately better for your hair... Though finsihing off mostly dry hair with a hair dryer set to cold shouldn't do a lot of damage, so long as it's not done every day.

yes i agree, i will never use a blowdryer again, once the blowdryer burns the hair that is it, you cant go back only grow it out

Hmmm, that isn't well argued. Maybe she meant that air dried ends might look thinner because curls clump together?? But that is huge stretch for me. That is the only way that the statement makes sense for me.

Blown out curls lay a little more evenly/frizzily and perhaps "look" like there is more hair, I guess, maybe.

Well, she does say air-dried hair *appears* to be thinner in the hemline - which makes sense, since flat-ironed hair has a uniform, even look which is difficult to achieve by air-drying. Also, the article is (I think) meant for women with very curly hair, from 3c into the 4s whose hair in its natural, undried state tends to frizz, and the ends tend to separate more than, say, 1a/M/ii hair.

Later on, the author argues quite vehemently against heat styling to prevent splits and thin ends. She has some pretty sound advice, actually.

I will never ever dry my hair with a blowdryer again! Because of blowdrying I got velcro ends,frizzy hair and had to brush it every 5 minutes or else it would look icky.I don't care what that article says,I must throw away my blowdryer!

I think she was mainly talking about textured hair. She said that the ends *appear* thinner if you airdry because the roots are very curly and the ends may be straighter and look thinner... at least that is what I think she was trying to say!

She is actually very knowledgable about hair care. She advocates frequent trims to even the hemline, low/no heat, deep moisture treatments... she knows what she is talking about, but she is definately talking mainly about textured hair.
