Default Green tea and hawthorn in hair?

Does anyone know if it's ok to leave green tea in the hair? After washing my hair with yolk/rueflour mix, I finished off by rinsing my hair with green tea, and I just left it in.
Can it damage the hair, when I leave it in?

And does anyone know if hawthorn tea rinse can help reduce the scalps production of sebum? And if so, then how?

Normally I soak my hair in green tea before taking a shower and then wash it out. I found it gives a nice shine to it. Though when I decided to use it as a rinse one day and left it in that same shine was not there. It didn't damage my hair though, so nothing wrong with it I suppose =p
