I usually wear my hair bunned and covered with a Buff in the sun. The Buff stays on better than a bandanna, and it is very light.

I use this product by Kerastase called Voile Protecteur from their Soleil range (the red one) its pricy at $34 for 100ml of spray but it claims to provide UV protection :-)

I usually wear a bandana or a wide headband to protect my head in the sunshine.

I just wear a hat or scarf to protect my hair from the sun.

I didn't know what a buff was so I googled it and found buffwear.com amongst some others. Can you recommend a particular type?

I just have the original ones. I'm not sure how much more protective the UV ones are, but I'm happy with the ones I have.

I'd be careful with the sun protection creams etc. since most of them contain alcohol denat.
Besides that I'm just going to keep following this thread..

Thank you everyone for your help. I think I will buy some hats this summer. Question on Hats and hair. How do you wear your bun high or low near the nape? Also what if you have a big head. One of the reason I never bought a hat is because it never fitted over my hair or hair bun. Catladyintown

I've also read that jojoba oil has SPF4. So basically it seems like applying a little bit of certain oils (like sesame seed) will do a bit of protection (and how much does hair actually need?)

I plan on making my own sunscreen sometime soon (saw a recipe on TBB) with zinc oxide, and if I feel like it I may try a bit on my hair.

I have the hat problem too! It only works when I wear my hair in a braid, but I don't like to do that often so I'm in the same boat...

    Hello Pariat,

Thanks for sharing the useful result.
Being a travel lover, I used to travel alone in bright sunny sea areas. Apart from using sun-screen and sunglasses I used to carry a collection of hats from here - https://itday.com/camping/comprehens...hoose-sun-hat/
I used to carry a different hat for each day of week
This is my passion, I love collecting hats.
If you can help me with increasing my beautiful hat collection, please let me know.
