I wish i could find my favorite vintage hair blog that i love reading but i cant find it in my favorites right now. I'll post a link when i find it they are easily adaptable to modern day looks.
Victory Rolls!!! They're super easy to do I might have to post some pictures when I get home from school
"Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him"1 Corinthians 2:9
I have always loved Donna Reed's hair at the end of It's a Wonderful Life I can't find a good photo, but it looks like a combo of small victory rolls with a large woven or braided bun at the nape. Or, it could be a snood, which are also quite authentic.

From the 50's downwards until 19th century and begginings of the 20th century I don't have too much information just foxtrot, dirty blues, the great depression, chicago gansgters and World Wars...so my personal view is not centered into trends during that period.
But from the 50's I love not only the clothing specially from pinups and the first rockers, but rockabilly!!!, country during those ages, cars, bikes (specially Harley Davidson and Indian), Dinner's, human drawing, commercials...but not the role of women at home.
I love the looks of the forties. I like to do a version of Victory Rolls. I twist my hair (on either side of my face) into a sort of poofy rool and then secure with hair combs (not hair forks, just the faux-tortoiseshell plastic ones). It looks very 40's, but with a little modern spin.
I love Donna Reed's hair, too! In fact I love that whole movie. I think I'm going to try to replicate that look for Thanksgiving this year. I'll be hosting the big dinner, so wouldn't that be apropos? A Donna Reed do on the biggest homemaking day of the year? That's just up my "sense of humor" alley
OOOH! Now I have to find a shirtwaist dress to wear! And pumps! Okay, I could really get into this!

I always wear retro clothes. Never paid much attention to my hair though, it always sustains a "retro" look on it's own.
