Awesome! You might even make it to 1c/2a, at that rate! Great wavies!!
Hi!
I just wanted to post this because I know some people are curious as to how sodium laureth/lauryl sulfate changes your hair. Well here I am to show you!
This is with sulfate shampoo:
The picture doesn't really show, but if you look at this one and the one in my signature, it looks like my hair is trying to do something, but it can't. That's how I've always described it. It's revolting against laying straight, yet it won't just wave up and be done with it. Also, it looks kinda flat.
Well, here is my hair without sulfates:
See all that crazy texture?! This is just with finger combing and air drying. What hair type would this be? Maybe if it were longer, it'd be superdy wavy I'm really excited.
And that is not my color, I was sitting directly next to a lamp with a red lampshade.
So! If you have hair like mine that is like 1b/1c and you use sulfates... you might want to experiment without and see what you get!

Love the waves!
They look great.
Awesome! I'm just the opposite. My normally 2a hair goes to 1b without the sulfates for some reason. I don't know why. Haha.
It's weird how something can have such opposite effects on different people's hair... when I use a sulfate shampoo, I get spirally ends and a couple of loose corkscrew curls in the front. When I don't, I get looser waves (like in my sig pic).
I prefer the more 'curly' look, but SLS also gives me the frizzies, so I'm just doing diluted sulfate shampoo washes and occasionally CO or WO.
Wow, I'm definitely going to try this. Thanks for posting!
I found the same thing when i gave up sulphates! I gave up sulphates and 'cones, and stopped using hard water to wash in - my hair is thicker and wavier now, it's hard to believe what that stuff musta been doing to my hair.
I also found the same when I quit sulphates and 'cones. It was a nice surprise!
Did you finger comb and air dry before?
Because this may cause the wave and texture "going natural"
My hair gets wavy and pretty if I air dry with no brushing/combing, it doesn't care what I wash it with :P
