    Default Twist on a Stick

How do you do your Twist on a Stick buns? How do you keep them for torquing too tightly? And what do you do with your ends?

I'm trying to master this, so any and all suggestions would be appreciated!

Before I joined the forum, I thought this was the only way one could use a hairstick. I hold the stick horizontal about mid-way down the length of my hair, on the top of it, then wrap my hair around it once and rotate the stick once or twice. Then turn the stick in towards my head and push it through to the other side of the bun. Mine always ends up with the stick going diagonal. If I feel like it's starting to wrap too tightly, I pull the stick out just a little bit and it loosens somewhat. As for the ends, I just leave them as they are for now because my hair is still short-ish and I don't mind the spiky look. As it gets longer I'll start wrapping them around the bun, behind the stick.

I've tried to do this a couple of times, but I think my hair needs to be a little longer because it always ends up WAY too tight

Glad that the link helped -- I found it in the list of articles right here at LHC.

As for the too-tight-twist (say that three times fast!), try pulling the stick a little farther away from your head when you start. If your hair is short or you have layers, you can also try to fold your ends into it while you're twisting.

I give myself a facelift every time I try this one. I will give it another shot with the stick further away from my head

Thanks freezerpop and GRU! GRU, I appreciate the link -- it's a good tutorial. One problem I have is "flipping" around videos -- I am left-handed, and it takes a bit of mental push-ups out for me to figure out how to do a bun the opposite way as shown (if that makes sense). But I'm working on it. I'll have to watch the video a few more times and then try the bun about 50 more times, and I'm sure I'll get it (eventually).

Have you ever tried setting up a mirror perpendicular to the computer screen and watching it in the mirror instead of on the monitor? The mirror will automatically "flip" it for you in the reflection.
