    Default Sun burn on scalp

I was at a picnic yesterday and covered myself in protection from the sun. But I forgot my scalp And it's really badly burned... Is there anything I can put on my scalp to help it heal or to stop it hurting?
This wouldn't impact on hair growth, would it? I'm a slow grower and I'm a little worried.

I have successfully rubbed shea butter into my scalp after a sunburn. I did not have the feeling it had any impact on my growth, however my hair felt a bit dry and brittle for a few days. Nothing you cannot sort out with a deep treatment. Good luck!

I have used aloe gel on my scalp when I have been sunburned. I never noticed any changes in my hair.....just really large dandruff flakes when it peeled.

Lots of Aloe gel, and oil helps me. You could mix it with a bit of cool honey and have more benefits!

I'd suggest going light on shampooing for the next few days, then do a scalp wash with massage to help. The massage will help the dead skin fall away, and none of those will hurt your hair and will probably help it more!

Sun burns can make hair shed or break off, but they won't destroy your hair if rare. Just be gentle with your hair.
    Fast typer.
I have fine hair that I'm working on growing long!

Seconding going light on shampoo. The last thing you need now is to dry the damaged skin out

I heard advice once about spraying strong, cold green tea on every 15 minutes until it heals but I have actually never tried it myself

I've put coconut oil on my scalp when this has happened. And you do get HUGE flakes of skin falling off (or at least I did) -- I mean, pieces of skin with 7 or so perforations from hair follicles all coming off in one piece that I had to slide down out of my hair. Ick, I hope that description wasn't too gross.

Also, I'd suggest parting your hair somewhere else for the meantime to give that patch of skin a break. And be gentle while combing.

    Hope it gets better soon!

I noticed that my scalp color is bir dark than other area.
which the part line the crown. I wonder if it's sun burn???
I felt pain around the area after I walked under the sun.
I don't think my part is not wider than before but I never noticed it before and never felt burning scalp.
now I am wondering if my top of crown getting thin hair
I am thinking to get some sun block spray for head.

I use the same sunscreen I use on my body. I dab a bit on my finger and rub it along the part until I know the whole part is covered (have to remember the tips of the ears too). I figure I will be showering later anyway so I will wash it out then.
