I just run a comb through the bristles to remove lint, loose hair, etc.; then I put some warm (on the hot side) water and a little good clarifying shampoo in the sink and swish it to make suds. I then soak my brush, bristles down, in the water for about ten minutes. If your brush has a varnished, wooden handle, like mine, try not to get it wet. I then shake out the excess water and rinse just the bristles under cool, running water. Blot the bristles with a towel and let the brush air dry, bristles up. Remember that it IS hair (boar's hair), so treat it much like your own hair.
