Default What does a Citric Acid rinse do?

I remember ages ago there was a huge thread on this wonder citric acid rinse but i can't remember really what it specifically did that seperated it from other acidic rinses like ACV.

I mean, i gather it restores the hair to an acid state after washing so would smooth the cuticle etc.....but is there anything else it does? Clarifying or something funky?

I saw some in an asian grocers recently and it reminded me of that old thread so i picked some up thinking it might be usefull.....so any info and tips on using it would be cool.

I can't remember the exact details, but I find that an ACV rinse leaves my hair feeling - dry/stripped, whereas a citric acid rinse leaves my hair feeling wonderfully buttery.

I COULD just be being heavy handed with the ACV, but I know that's one definite difference.

Ooooh thats interesting, i had assumed the ACV would be more gentle, usually my hair loves it and at worst it just doesn't seem to do much.

The citric acid sounds good, what kind of proportions do you use, i was thinking maybe half a teaspoon in a big jug or something

I use a CA rinse (distilled water) every now and then. It removes all the hard water deposits and minerals from my hair. It also helps keep my blonde from going brassy by doing this. Oh yeah, it helps with shine.

    Default citric acid

There are 2 citric acid threads at TBB that should answer most of your questions.

Oh, that's SO good to know! Maybe that's why it makes my hair feel so much - lighter? I don't think we have hard water.....

I use a CA rinse instead of a CVArinse. I can't stand the smell of vinegar.
I always thought it had the same uses as CVA.
