Thanks for all the links to hair wrapping, GRU! And also, good point on your hair taking "3 days" to dry. I know how that is, when I was in middle school I would go to school with my hair in a wet ponytail (maybe it was a bun?), and when I took it down at the end of the day, it would still be a little damp feeling. On the bright side, it still smelled awesome from my shampoo So if I try wrapping my hair, I definitely think I will keep that in mind and try it on hair that is just a little wet.

I'm also excited about wrapping because I planned on straightening my hair with a flat iron to show off its length once I get it where I want it. Usually it takes me like half an hour of the flat iron on the hottest setting to straighten it from curly, but that's really damaging. So even if wrapping doesn't get it quite as straight or smooth as I want, it will allow me to flat iron it from wavy instead, which would probably take much less heat to do.

Have you tried damp bunning with hair that is just a teensy bit wet?

My hair doesn't have much of an "in-between" mode... it's either practically dripping wet, or else parts of it are completely dry (the damaged ends which are super-porous) while others are only dampish.

I usually don't wet my hair on days I have clinicals at the hospital because I have to wear it up when I'm there, but a month or so ago I simply *had* to wash my hair that morning (I'm prone to seborrheic dermatitis if I don't wash every-other-day, and I'd gotten off my usual schedule). Even though I Turbie-dried my hair before bunning it, it was still *dripping* five-plus hours later when I took it down at lunch (to try to get it to dry). I left it down for 40 minutes, then had to put it back up again. When I got home three hours later, it was still more wet than dry.

Maybe sometime I'll start with dry hair and spray it with a mister to try to find that perfect "in-between" point... but most of the time I simply don't have the time or patience to bother with all of that.

I'm just not ready to be a Renegray yet!

Hi everyone. Newbie curly checking in. I have to thank the rest of you curlys here for teaching me about the CG method, AVG, and about Kimberly's defrizz spray recipie. I've been lurking the boards for a couple of months now trying to absorb all of the wonderful information that I've found here. It was through this thread that I heard about naturallycurly.com and have been trying to absorb from there as well. Wow, what a difference it has made for me and my hair! Thank you LHC.

For what it's worth your curls look 3b to me. If you were a 4a, then afro hair would be 5 or 6 on the curl scale.

You have beautiful hair, by the way.

So I just ordered 500 grams of henna.

Not that I think I will need it all at once.. I just didn't want to have to order more soon.

Thank you! There's a real range of opinions here on my hair type.

Have you tried doing a caterpillar braid? You know, when you make a ponytail with several hair ties going down the length. That straightens my hair out but I'm a lot less curly than you are! Perhaps with some smoothing product in your hair it could work.
