OK...this is my LAST PIECE until 2011 - so I need it to be perfect.

    Which do you like better:

    or

    or

    ???

I want a darker wood TT, and I know I want the dark with Apatite. Everything else...I can't decide! I need opinions!!

I like the second one best - but I generelly seem to have a rather particular taste, so maybe I am not really the right person to give an advise....

My custom order has already arrived, incredibly fast! And I think they are really drop-dead-gorgeous:

(Picture is also in my blog at blogger - there it is clickable). Unfortunately only taken with my crappy mobile cam, but I think you get an impression.
Currently I am obsessed with arts and crafts - which is the main topic of my german-englisch Blog. This of course includes hairtoys. Please, feel free to come around and take a look!

    Beautiful! You have lovely taste!

I went with the monterillo with apatite. I'm going to ask my DH for a Melissa in the African Blackwood with green turquoise bands on the ends for Christmas.

Yeah, I think my next hairtoy (many moons hence) will be a holly Melissa with some sort of inlay. I can't decide between malachite or lapis lazuli...

My other idea is a set of Melissa sticks that each represent the festivals of the pagan year -- a wood and a gemstone inlay to represent the colors or feelings associated with that festival. But I have no money for that, nor do I have a need for that many new hair sticks.

I plan...long, long from now, when I have the money - to hit a hairstick maker up for a pagan set based on the Celtic tree cycle - a stick in each wood associated with the calendar year, maybe even with each type of wood's leaf carved as a topper.

In the meanwhile, I have my Nightblooming equinox and solstice dragons, plus Alban Elfed, to tide me over in that vein.

But - I'm excited about this TT stick...it's a BEAUTIFUL color combo, and Doug's work is so exquisite.

Does anyone who has ordered a custom from Doug care to share *about* how long it was between putting in their name for the custom list until the stick was finished and available for purchase?

I have an idea for a custom rolling around in my head, but I need to time it to be done after I'm back at work and receiving a paycheck (to prevent my hubby from going homicidal! ) I'm just wondering when to put my name in to work the time difference. Thanks!

Edited to add: Also, if you were doing a completely new design custom, how did you draw it up?
