I browsed through all of the archives on hair styling. Clearly most of are for shorter styles, but I must say that I LOVE this ponytail style as it looks on the bottom pic.

    And this one

Some of these are really cute, but she expresses regret she doesn't have a clearer, larger pictures and no instructions.

Well we didn't have the internet or cable TV back then I did a wet set every single night of the week when I was in high school. The brush/comb out and styling didn't take all that long in the morning. The eye make up with the patent leather eye liner took a while

I'm sort of lost on how to do it, though

It looks to me that it can not be done with very long hair, I tried it and I have too much lenght for this one.

I tried the topknot coil also, I have too much length too.
Growing my hair back out after some much-needed experimentation and with a color I love!

Thank you for sharing these! I really need more ways to wear mine up in more interesting ways!! I have noticed once it gets very long, ones choices seem to be fewer. I will enjoy the journey instead if wishing my hair were longer!! Thanks again!!

    I managed a modified one!
I didn't have a hair tie on hand so I used a scrunchie I found in my drawer, you can see it sticking out one side.
I used one hair pin to secure the top.

My hair is mostly waist with bits of taper at hip.
I looped the scrunchie around twice, there was slack for a third go round, but I left half my length like a looped pony before putting the end through.
The remaining ends are in a loose cinnabun on top of the scrunchie-pony.
The loop of hair kind of turned/fell/twisted sideways, that's what gives it the slightly twisted look on the bottom loop of hair.
I have gel in my hair, so the one flower pin at the top may be all that's needed due to the tacky texture.

This would be better done with a real elastic pony tail holder than a crunchie, and probably needs more pins.

Thank you for sharing! I tried the Cartwheel today (slightly modified and rather messy):
