    EEE, don't use it alone

I mix it with shikakia and aritha when I do an herb wash, mixed with distilled rose water. If you use too much it can be drying, but just the right amount makes hair thick and strong I've found. I get a big bag for $2 at my local store. No color change that I noticed.

It makes skin amazing... seriously, mix it with distilled water and use it as a mask for ten minutes or so... incredible results . It has a very high vitamin c content in my understanding.

I used Amla only right before I hennaed for the first time. I read using Amla before your very first henna is recommended.

You can see the slight darkening of the hair (I used Morocco Method dark brown henna mix afterward so I can't tell you how long it would last). But you can see that it induced waves in my stick straight hair.

    Before Amla or henna

    After Amla or henna

I do remember what a brat the stuff was to remove so I never used it again. Plus I started using pure henna after that and never looked back.

Not sure if different suppliers of Amla will provide different sifting quality like I've found with henna.

Amla powder made my hair even wavier than it was before. I did not find it drying at all and I didn't notice a colour change, then again I have really dark brown hair. It did make my hair softer and I'm finding that when I use too much of it, it makes my hair look kind of stringy.

Amla oil is amazing, I bought some pure amla oil (not the dabur stuff) I have wavy hair that sometimes gets dry, I put a little amla oil in my palms, warm it up and spread to my fingers and stroke my hair with it, I get shiny soft hair and my curls come back....

I use it for a facial mask and I mix it in with my henna. I find it kills the henna smell somewhat and gives me a very nice rusty red color. The facial mask works great, especially for my oily skin. I buy mine from an online company called Super Organic Foods.

I don't really get what amla is supposed to be for. I guess I should do a search.

Amla is a hair conditioner. It is mildly acidic so will close and smooth the cuticle making hair shiny. This conditioning also makes some people's hair curl/ wave more, if they have natural curl or waves. It can be used on it's own as a kind of herbal CO wash. It can mildly stain some light hair but that's temporary so it's not a dye.

Does it make the hair stronger or thicker? Like henna?
