I'm afraid my husband would divorce me for that. I used to have a fish pond, and that smell...not pleasant.
Could you mix it with something so it's not so obnoxious?
I did my Kelp hair wash today and it came out real nice. Also really cleaned my pre-oiled hair very good. So for around 8 hours my hair smelled like a Fishpond. So would you have Fishpond smelling hair for a little while so your hair could grow to classic length?

I can understand your hubby not liking it. Dragonlady I think the hair wash works best if it only has seaweed in it.
I wonder if there's such a thing as deodorized kelp. The nicest hair I've ever had after an experiment was from a rinse of kelp and marshmallow powder. I almost did this in the shower, though, so I will never be trying kelp again. I think one of My Honey Child's deep conditioners has kelp in it, if you want something that smells a lot better.
I don't think I could handle smelling like a fishpond either. My family would hate it too.
Have you considered trying a rosemary rinse or scalp wash for your hair instead? The first time my hair reached hip length, I was religiously usng a rosemary rinse daily. It worked fine for me and it doesn't smell bad at all. Fresh rosemary, or the dried rosemary you can buy in the spice section of te grocery store, doesn't smell as pungent as rosemary EO. It's great stuff and I'd recommend it to anyone.
It all depends on if it smells like a -y fishpond or a *fishy* fishpond!
I think I would do it, as long as it was a marine smell and not a dirty smell.
Hi Flaxen I remember your experiment. Along time ago that is what made me try Kelp. And it works great on my hair thank you. SimplyLonghair it is a hard smell to get use too. Thanks for the suggestion Jera but for a month I am going to try Kelp wash and alternate it with a Camellia seed powder wash, and see what happens. Sheliaann1969 thank goodness it smells more like a *fishy* fishpond*. It doesn't smell real bad, more like the sea. I think a fisherman would appreciate the smell.
I used to swim in the ocean (well, surf really) and didn't always have time to wash my hair after before I had to be in classes. Um, yeah, the smell is pretty......unique. Not to terrible once you get used to smelling like the ocean, though. Kelp is stinky stuff. No way around it.

I love the smell of the sea, and water and fish (as long as its clean)
how exactly does one make a kelp wash?
