    Default Water type and oil

I live in a soft water area, and oil works for me. Recently, I visited in a hard water area, and oil made my hair feel crunchy. This made me wonder what other people have noticed.

I have hard water and haven't had any problems with oil. I have had nothing else to compare it to though. I believe that it may have been soft water I had when visiting Europe, but I'm really not sure, and I wasn't using oil at the time.

I have hard water, from a well. I have always used conditioner to help with coarse/dry hair.
Have begun new technique of oiling.
So far, have tried Sweet Almond Oil, and a very small sample of Argan. Great for the ends.
I just purchased organic 100% coconut oil, and I'm excited to try it. Will start this weekend with an overnight blend (very light).

I have serious envy of your water. I live in an area described as moderately hard. I have to do extra rinses with either distilled water or at least by adding vinegar to the rinse, that helps somewhat.

Hard water, with or without oil, makes my hair feel more dry and crunchy than at home. Are you sure the oil was really a contributing factor?

I have well water that is high in iron... however, I put a showerhead filter on my shower.

I use monoi oil and Ojon and they both work great for me.

I have hard water, but I have a filter in my shower head. So far, both olive and coconut oil work for me. I've never tried anything else, though.

I have hard water and oil works for the most part. Maybe it's just the type of oil I'm using (olive and almond), but I think oil could work a lot more and doesn't. No idea if the water type is the reason, though.

I have extremely hard water but I rinse with distilled water after every wash.

Sweet almond oil works wonders for me. Jojoba makes it crunchy. Those are the only two oils I've tried.
