    Default Emu oil?

I saw on another site that they are claiming emu oil mixed with other stuff is a great hair tonic for growth....but they are charging a whopping 400.00 + for this!!!???!!!

Does anyone know if it really works? I'm stunned.

I've got some emu oil (majestic mountain herbs if I recall). I use it on my skin (when I think of it) and have massaged it into my scalp, but nothing with enough regularity to notice any growth.

If you're interested in testing it just buy it yourself. 400 is outrageous!

Apparently, they advertize in wedding magazines. Not sure if anywhere else and testimonials say it really works. I'm gonna try regular emu oil although my hair grows quickly on its own - do you mix it with anything else?

I just started using emu oil about a month ago. I bought a 2-ounce bottle at my healthfood store of pure emu oil for $19. It is very thick and smells and feels sort of like earwax (shudder!). But I've been massaging it onto my scalp about twice a week. I don't mix anything with it currently, though I'm thinking of maybe mixing some rosemary oil with it in the future and using that for scalp massage and to moisturize the scalp. I also use my pure emu oil on my face and I find that my skin feels more moisturized and stays that way longer than when I wasn't using it. For my face, I blend my usual facial moisturizer (Neutrogena "Visibly Even") with a dab of emu oil and spread on my neck and face.

Every now and then people or companies go crazy about it.
I tried it on my skin and was majorly _ unimpressed. Itīs not bad, not at all. I was just missing the OMG-wow-effect I would expect for that price. Honestly I like various other plant based oils better than emu.
Physically seen itīs not an oil, itīs bird-fat like goose fat, just more pricey and not as yummy on toast.

I read one study that said emu oil helps hair grow at a faster rate and that each follicle will produce a hair that is more robust. I've only seen the one study so I do not know if there are further examples of the same results in different experiments.

I use emu oil as my carrier oil mixed with Chrome Dome, sometimes I use it as a leave-in, and sometimes I use it on my face. The one thing I notice with my scalp massage blend is that the oils feel like the penetrate more than with other oils. My hair also feels much softer with emu oil than others but I don't use it that much because it is so pricey.

I haven't noticed an increased growth rate. My hair is getting more dense but I do not attribute that to the emu oil, but rather the scalp massage. Overall, I think it's an excellent oil for scalp massages and I'll continue to use it long term, but I would NEVER pay that much money for it.
