Default How My Great-Grandma met her husband

Yes, yes it IS hair related! However if it would be better in a different forum, mods, please move!

My great grandmother had floor length hair. One day, she had just washed her hair and was sitting on the porch combing it out when a man stopped by to see her father on business. He said he saw her hair and fell in love with her. At this time she was engaged to soon be married to another man, but my great grandfather swept her off her feet, she married him, and they lived happily ever after.
And all cause of her hair.....*sigh*.

Thanks for sharing!!! Hair love stories are the best.

My now-husband says that my hair was one of the things that first attracted him to me (of course, he told me that only AFTER I totally butched it back in '99, but hey... it grew back!).
    Curls or length???
Mini-goals as measured on dry hair: lower BSL, waist, back to high BSL!

That reminds me of a poem I vaguely recalled from somewhere... I just looked it up online from a line I remember. (Ain't Google great? The author is Elise Maclay.)

    Preserve me from the
occupational therapist, God. She means well,
but I'm too busy to make baskets.
I want to relive a day in July when Sam and I
went berrying. I was eighteen; my hair was long
and thick, and I braided it and wound it round
my head so it wouldn't get caught on the briars.
But when we sat in the shade to rest,
I unpinned it, and it came tumbling down.
    And Sam proposed.
I'm sure it wasn't fair to use my hair to make
him fall in love with me, but it turned out to be
a good marriage... oh, here she comes, the
    therapist with scissors and paste.
    "Would you like to decoupage?"
"No," I say. "I haven't got the time."
    "Nonsense," she says. "You're going
to live a long, long time."
That's not what I mean; I mean that all my life
I've been doing things for people, with people.
I have to catch up on my thinking and feeling.

(There's more to it, but this was the section I remembered all these years.)

What a great story *sighs dreamily*
I loved the poem excerpt too, and will have to look up that author!
