Dry and natural. I do brush it beforehand.

I voted "dry and natural" but my hair is mostly straight on it's own.

Dry and straight because, well, my hair is quite straight by itself. The ends can flip a bit, but it's not that noticeable.

    I call it twice :
    1) when it's there "when wet" (= in the shower, so as wet and straight as it can be) : I consider I'm "entering the goal zone"
    2) once it is solidly there (= dry and wavy) : I officially claim it as "fully reached goal".

Have measured once while hair was still wet/damp, but prefer to do it d&n.

I do this too. My hair length varies wildly between wet and dry, so it is often a matter of months if not over a year after I hit a goal wet that I even come close to it dry. If I didn't celebrate the "wet" milestones, I'd soon lose my mind from a lack of perceived progress

So true ! Now I have entered the "knee-when-wet" zone, and about to hit "solid" knee. But the whole process can take several months, so it's motivating to feel that your hair already has the required length, even if it doesn't look like it yet. And once you hit "solid goal", the second benefit is that your hair is already way longer, ha ha !
