This is the best demo/recipe I've personally found for homemade flaxseed gel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=os0gI1vx1tw

I also find it a sort of funny video because she seems obsessed with the texture of it, and shows very long shots of it

I was using it for a while, but I get kind of lazy. It defines and brings out my waves a lot, and seems to nicely moisturise them and make them very shiny and healthy-looking. I just tend to like the look of more casual, less defined waves and curls more, I guess.

I just tryed to make it (flaxseed and water only) and put it on my sons straight hair to keep his bangs to the side, and it works
Yet after beeing outside playing (he's only 5 years) it kind of looked like the usual mess, but still.... On an adult (who isn't that playfull) it will work well.
I put it in his dry hair, and when it dryed out, I combed it a bit.
Have to try it on myself to bring out the little bit of S-waves I have.

    Back with a review:

Loving it. Doesn't weigh my hair down, makes it shiny, and very soft and moisturized. I even used it on my arms and hands. Made my skin soft and supple. Great curl and wave definition too.

Think I've found a holy grail here!

I’m going to have to look into this! I didn’t even know using flaxseed gel was a thing!

So wanted to share my flaxseed experience with you:
I found a great Youtube tutorial and I got a nice medium jar of flaxseed gel.
I will keep it in the fridge.
Washed my hair today after I oiled it yesterday evening (castor oil on my roots and almond on the length)
I then blow dried it a bit on the lowest setting.
Tried to rake and shake but my hair ended up looking like a frizzy broom - see the pic:

So I wet it again, applied some flaxseed gel ( next time will apply less) and cinnabunned for 1 hour.
My hair was still humid so I diffused it a bit, on the lowest setting.
    Here are the results:

I love the results, but next time I intend to use less gel. I find it a bit too strong, my ends feel like starched
So I have a few questions: how do you guys braid your hair after using flaxeed gel? I am thinking to wet my hair again before going to sleep, braid and see how it looks in the morning.
Can you use tangle teezer after using the gel? I think it would be impossible for me to use it right now...
Ok, so the whole point of using the gel is to get defined curls. This means you wear your hair down , right?
Well, this contradicts a bit my principle of keeping my hair up to prevent damage...
Need to find a balance. I think I would use this method only when I want my hair down. Then I will just follow my usual routine of keeping my hair up most of the time.

    Looking good, zanelle

I'm currently preparing my first jar of flaxseed gel so I have some to try when washing my hair later. Hope it works the way I want it to

This is how I did it ( you can use a sieve instead of that pantyhose):
