Anyone tried Omega oils in their hair mixtures?
It just sounded tempting and I just bought a bottle of omega oil. Not sure if I’m going to slap it on my head, or cook with it just yet. It really depends.
Have you tried it?
What were the results?
I’m not finding much online about hair application, just ingesting it.

Is this "omega oils" a branded product or do you just mean oils that have omega 3, 6, 7, 9 etc as part of their composition?

Yes I am confused too about the oil itself. Could you look at the ingredients' list?

Chloedharma & Lapushka,
The bottle is labeled Omega Oil. Made by Better body foods.
The ingredients reads just Refined salmon oil. Besides that, it says it has 300mg of omega 3-6-9 per 1/2 tsp.
I’m already taking the 3-6-9 gel caps everyday, but I thought the oil itself may give a bit of a boost. I’ve read that fish oil can help with shedding and hair loss, plus it promotes healthy follicles and overall scalp health. These are bennifits from taking the gel caps everyday. The only thing Ive seen about omega applied to the hair is that it smoothes the cuticles, but it’s not usually recommended do to the strong fishy smell. I’ve also read that the smell can be masked by other oils, but nothing about the benefits themselves.
My curiosity is getting the best of me. I may test it tonight.
ETA: I just found a few articles about mixing it with evoo and leaving it in for 20-30 minutes. All said to use shampoo and conditioner after. Finally, something!

I would prefer taking that internally. Aside from that being the most likely to do the best good, fish oil goes rancid quickly and I would prefer my hair oils a bit more stable. Heat and light accelerate oxidation too, so if you do go that route, perhaps as a brief pre-shampoo oiling? I wouldn't want it out on the counter very long at all once opened even in the bottle.

I'd be cautious, depending on specifically what oils are in there. Flax oil is a common vegetarian source for omega-3 fatty acids, for example, but it also has a very high iodine value, meaning it's prone to polymerization. When that's intentional, they call it linseed oil and use it to create a coating on wood, but I wouldn't want that on my hair.
ETA: based on a quick look at chemical structure, EPA and DHA will probably polymerize quite readily. I wouldn't use it as a leave in, personally. Don't cook it either, it'll break down the components that make it healthy. Probably best to take it by the spoonful or use it on salads or similar.

Thank you Chromis and Anje for the info. I’m keeping it in the refrigerator for storage. I was surprised that it didn’t smell fishy when I opened it!
I did end up mixing it last night with my length oils and in my separate root oil bottle as well.
I must say, I’m very pleased with the results. The first 6 inches from my roots are completely healthy,
the rest of my hair is fried from many bleaching. My first 6 inches of healthy hair always feels wonderful
but the rest of my hair feels very dry and requires daily oiling between washes.
Today my ends actually feel as smooth as my roots, so I’m pretty impressed.
