Oh dear Piratejenny! What an ordeal, of course you had to do something.
    Are you addressing the stress?
Can you hunker down and love on yourself a bit?
Btw you're still one of us weirdos, can't get out that easily.

Oh no, Piratejenny! I'm glad you're taking steps in figuring this all out. I remember when you very first started NW/SO on your hair, and you went throught the head acne phase, but this seems different. I hope you find the culprit, and in the meantime, that it subsides.
As for the stress, maybe take time to be in the here and now and breathe...Even one minute can make a difference. Looking at a tree or a plant can help make this easier.
And yes, as proo said, you're still one of us.

    My update.
I've been very lazy, and some sneaky bug has attacked, so I'm not really feeling up to doing anything. It seems while being sick, my sebum production gets to the point where I look like I have been sweating, then stops. It's nothing I can't deal with when I'm ready, which is good, because I have a date (I think) that I've had to pospone, so this will definitely test my comfort level with this regime.... To be honest, I don't think I'll have a problem, and if I do, it will be totlly mental on my side, I know that.

It seems this thread is alot about self acceptance,
finding interest in our own uniqueness, as you would with anyone else.
Interesting what you say about your date "mental state", Bedhead.
I find if I look someone in the eyes while feeling my own prana,
they feel . . wonderful and heard.

Sending the good stuff pals to heal and protect y'all.

Thanks guys for the moral support and for assuring me that I'll still be admitted to the weirdo playground

I don't want to hijack this thread any further with details of my stress (essentially it's all only about money) but I can assure you that I do try to deal with it as positively as I can, taking time for myself, exercising, reading etc. I'm contemplating learning some wood working. Wouldn't it be cool if I could make my own forks and sticks?

Bedhead, good luck with your date. Maybe your regime is a good indicator. If your date is worth your time it'll eventually need to accept the whole weird and "mental" you you are anyway - hair washed or not . I admit I'm not sure how I'd build the NW revelation into a first date, though ...

If he likes how you smell,
    well, end of story.

Personal fragrance is a huge indicator of compatibility to me.

Thanks you two! However, I don't think anyone needs to concern themselves. Whether my date is an it, he or she, I don't really have a history of discussing my hair regime at any point in a relationship, so I very much doubt it will be a topic of revelation on this first date. Ha ha!

ETA: And yes, scent of someone will be a huge factor in whether you decide to continue dating or not. I remember not liking how someone smelt....

Wanted to bump this one up just because today is day 2 of WO for me.
I am just doing this on a whim as part of experimentation.
Not sure if I like it or not. I have not added any product into my hair as it makes it too greasy just using WO. My hair looks pretty dull. It feels good though.
I am worried about increased shedding though for some reason.
No matter what I am doing my hair seems to shed more and more
My hair also smells a little musty???

Random thought: I was watching what not to wear with my mom 5 years ago or so and the hair dresser Nick Arrojo was having a discussion with the make over-ee and he told her that he has not washed his hair in like 8 months and he uses Water Only. She even smelled his hair and felt it and it was not stinky and it appears to have felt really nice.
    Taking an LHC break.

    Hair Update:

My hair is great! I'm really liking what the horn comb is doing for it. When I bought it, I was ready to oil my ends, but something told me to hold off on that, so I did. Today, my ends are very close to fabulous, and I think with a little more time, they will be fabulous. I think the horn comb is spreading the sebum in a way, my fingers couldn't, and this is in taking into consideration that my hair has grown from APL to close to MBL (trims included) since I began this regime. So I can actually say I am 100% SO, thanks to this wonderful little tool!

The other thing I haven't mentioned before, is that after I comb or smp, I give my hair a gentle scrunch, which helps the curl come out more.

Come to think of it, I haven't discussed my hair regimen ever with my SO.

    Or anybody else -
    except you guys.
