I've been wanting to do something similar for a while, but I've lost a lot of my thickness because of a shed lately and I don't think I have enough hair for this... I need it all in my buns.

That is the most ingenious thing! That way you can have some hair down without it being super long, but it's also easy to hide when wearing your hair down.
Sorry if that's the most obvious response, but I can't believe I've never seen/heard of this before. It's just such a smart idea.

Actually this was such a good idea without going for something majorly drastic, as usually even the smallest thing can make the difference. You have such a beautiful vibrant colour as well

Looks great! It's rather ingenious, too. I wonder if this would be a good alternative to bangs; I'm growing mine out because I love the look, but hate the extra maintenance.
ETA: I did think of a potential complication though: I wear glasses. Would that be a problem, do you think?
