    Default coconut milk shampoo recipe

    Hello lovelies!

I found a recipe on pinterest for coconut milk shampoo that is supposed to be really good for colored hair.

    Here are the ingredients:
1/4 cup coconut milk (canned is fine)
10 drops of EO of your choice
1/2 cup of baby shampoo of your choice
1 tap of vitamin E, olive, or almond oil

What do you think? Good recipe? Would you change or add anything?

I think 10 drops of essential oils are too much. I use 2-5% by weight in 10 pounds of soap so for three quarters of a cup of liquid, I would use 2-3 drops, no more. Just my two cents, essential oils can burn your skin if used in too high of a concentration.

OK thanks, I've never done anything with essential oils before. Good to know

My hair would hate me for a week if I used baby shampoo. Its just too harsh. I would love to try shampooing with coconut milk though, maybe mixed with honey or aloe vera

I think this is similar to the oil shampoo washing, where you mix and oil in with the shampoo. That's essentially what's happening with the coconut milk- it would just make the shampoo a milder cleaner as the oils on there are toning down the detergent capabilities somewhat. Also baby shampoo is the pH of our eyes, not our hair- that's why it's for babies. I wouldn't go near that stuff and just use a regular gentler shampoo if you're after a more gentle clean.
