Big Head = Thick hair?

Used a hat sizing chart: http://www.ubs.iastate.edu/hat_sizing_chart.html and at 22'' I'm at the low end of Medium (I did think I had a smallish head, despite being told I had a huge head when I was little, but this was because I had short layered hair that somehow managed to afro out ).

My hair however is very thick. I don't have a huge forehead, but I wouldn't say my hairline was low or extended in any way, so I don't think it is a greater surface of my head devoted to follicles, so it probably means that they are just more tightly packed. My boyfriend for instance has quite thin hair as his hairs are more separated, and I'd say his head is definitely on the larger size (based on a hat that is giant on me and small on him )

About 22.5", 6" ponytail. My son has a fairly big head and very thick hair (I'd estimate at least a 6" pony; it's much thicker than mine), but his brother has a somewhat bigger head and his hair isn't nearly as thick.

Small head (I'm five feet tall), hair is low-end of thick (3-4 inch ponytail). This may be because I'm Asian, although I do know a lot of other Asians with thin or fine hair.
