This is definitely awesome! Maybe more curly at the ends and as you said not to braid all the way down and it's just fabulous!

With your length and thickness, I think you should keep out a section to still be "head hair," and not part of the beard. Maybe just a braid/bun if you can't do the faux bob that neko_kawaii suggested.

maybe you could use shed hair as a kind of postiche to enhance the look, fill holes, or to make the mustache ?

Also, I don't know about damage to skin or hair... but you know velcro that has a sticky side ?
you could stick the velcro to your face, and see if the hair can hold gently into it without damage somehow. (I doubt it...)

Another idea is to use skin paint to get all brown under there so that your skin doesn't show through as much. (or use brown velco sticked under the beard, for the added relief...)

if you do a poney tail in the center of your chin, curl the hair as much as possible (no heat) and fix the curls somehow (pins, etc.) on each sides for a full beard look ?

    My best idea:

It uses two snap clips that could be turned into bobby pins and a hair tie.

I can make a video, actually I am probably going to right now before I forget my insanity just in case it will help with inspiration!

I'm totally subscribing to this thread! I've already been contemplating my dwarven woman costume for The Hobbit in december, need some ideas for the beard part. I'm going for a bit lighter look, like heavy sideburns rather than a full beard, but need all the inspiration I could get.

I need to say something smart here? O.o

So cool! Love the pics! After The Hobbit and The Dwarves' elaborate beards, I've been wanting to try something similar . Subscribing!

Those beards look really cool PrincessBob and Seeshami! Oh and if you don't like the fully braided beard all the way down look, you can always do the feather braid which will allow more free beard at the bottom, for example for curling it!
