Default I just can't get the nautilus bun?

    * edit * I should clarify, the version that looks like an actual nautilus shelf from the side view

    Hi guys!

So, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong? My hair is between waist and hip length now with a slight wave and medium/thick thickness. I've gotten the cinnabun, lazy wrap, figure eight, infiniti, pha, gebralter, and L bun, but for some reason, every time I try the nautilus I am met with failure.

I've watched many youtube tutorials on different methods, and it feels like I just run out of hair. Not sure if my hair is too thick (it took until just shy of waist for the lazy wrap) but I feel like others with my thickness or more have gotten the nautilus to work. Whatever I do it always falls and becomes a disaster. It's not a matter of adding two sticks because the failure occurs well before a bun is formed to hold by a stick. I think in the pulling it through phase something goes awry.

Do you have any tutorials or suggestions? Thank you!

Nautilus shelf? Oh, you mean shell. Well, this is the nautilus bun as I know it:

It doesn't look anything like a nautilus shell from the side, so I don't know what bun you're wanting. Maybe I'm being dense. Can you link to a picture or video of the bun you mean?
From Hip to Ankle and now back to Hip again.

This is the best you tube video for it. IDK what bun you want though, I've never seen it to look like a shell.

I also had trouble doing the Nautilus until I found Habioku's tutorial:

    [yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5gTy1gCyqE[/yt]

Then it all became clear. She doesn't do that 'loop' that was driving me crazy. Her website is full of amazing info and tutorials.
Her tutorial of self-trimming is the best, for me. It's what finally gave me the courage to try it myself. It's been a year now since I paid my last visit to a salon!
    Habioku simply rocks.

That's pretty much how I do my "Lazy wrap"...maybe I'm really doing a nautilus?

I don't wear it much, disk bun is my go to because it's more secure and looks better.

This is how I make a nautilus. If the link doesn't work, search "nautilus bun aynotjar" on youtube. The main thing that took me a while to get right was how tight to make the loop.. you have to keep it kind of tight or it'll fall apart. Hope it helps!

And as long as you have enough hair to make it loop at least once (probably about waist) it should work.

Oh man, the "nothing at all to secure it" bun! I have a ways to go before I can achieve THAT!

    I love your tattoo!!

it´s difficult to make such a nautilus without any hairtoys on fine hair. especially if it´s still like freshly washed. I can do the nautilus without hairtoys on the 5th day after washing. only wearing it at home when I don´t do much stuff... like reading, watching tv, cooking, working on the pc. when I am outside I either insert a beak clip (stick, if you want or have one) or put a scrunchie on it.
Well I don't have [volume on the] crown because I'm not a queen.
