I would say no.. I'd wager they'll rust easily.
The lovely Quasiquixotic gifted a gorgeous avian clip to me, and I love it to bits! However, I really don't know if clips like that (avian clips, pelican clips, Karina clips, ... known as "Fakkares" around here) are safe in wet hair or wet weather.
Here are some details on the clip - it's Vidal Sassoon Avian Clip (made of some metal and maybe other materials?)
Thank you! (Sorry, I couldn't find this information anywhere though I did find out that Ficcares are water-proof.)
I would say no.. I'd wager they'll rust easily.
I'm sure they are waterproof, but not all of them will survive frequent wetting and drying. It would have to be made of a non-corroding material such as aluminium or stainless steel.
I thinkespecially the joints of these clips would be sensitve to rust. But i think a bit of rain here and there won't be an issue.
For the shower i would take something else tho, did you try wavelength pins yet?
Thank you, guys!
What's a "wavelength pin"? Never even heard of them ... Off to google...
I believe you can wear them in rain or swimming. But the spring is what will rust. So doing so will shorten the life of your clip. I'd make sure to dry it out really well afterwards. Or use acrylic sticks/fork.
ISO: Medium or Small leopard, border, or silky Logo ficcare
Pixie to TBL. Cut back to waist, thinking of going shorter
Thank you so very much, Quasi!
That's great to know!
And the wavelength pins question is quite interesting... some people think it's "crimped" small u-pins, others think it's pins made from double-pointed knitting needles named after an LHC-er called "wavelength" (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/...ad.php?t=13877)... Interesting stuff!
I mean the knitting needle pins! Made them a few weeks ago and 2 of them hold a bun well enough to sleep in or shower.
I wouldn't wash in my ficcares, much less fakkares. I've seen rusted ficcares before. I mean, I wouldn't take them out if there was a little rain or something, but I definitely wouldn't shower or swim in them.
Proud to be a tightly curly!

I swam in a light blonde Ficcare for years with no problems.
Not sure about Fakkares though, sorry.
1" (03/13), 18" (05/14); 6yrs off LHC, pixied 10/17, now 22”
Maybe goals: BSL 28, WL 36, TB 42, CL 50, Knee 62
Iwas actually thinking about this water repellent spray, forgot the name but it was all over the news last year. Maybe that would enable us to wear any hairtoy, no matter how humid or wet the situation.
