I just add baking soda (sodium bicarb) to my regular shampoo.
I think my hair needs to be clarified. The problem is, although I understand the idea of clarifying, I have no idea what it's called in Dutch or which products sold in the Netherlands can clarify.
Please help!
I just add baking soda (sodium bicarb) to my regular shampoo.
Clarifying doesn't seem to exist as a concept in Dutch shampoo marketing . Pantene had a shampoo a while back that is marketed as clarifying in other countries, in a clear bottle, - in Dutch it was called something like 'schoon en fris' and there was a blurb on the bottle about it removing styling products from your hair. I haven't seen it in a while though. You can just use any shampoo that doesn't have a lot of conditioning stuff in it (no cones etc).
Or you can do the baking soda thing (I find it rather drying though). It's sold as natriumbicarbonaat in the apotheek in small green packages, they sell it as a relief for heartburn (maagzuur). It's relatively expensive in that form though (about 2 euros for a tiny package). Cheaper to go to a toko and look for it there with the baking supplies. My toko sells the 'arm and hammer' brand, it's about twenty times the amount you'll get in the apotheek for half the price.

Could it be sold under something meaning "deep cleansing"? Both in Swedish and Finnish that sentence is used for clarifying shampoo.
I didn't find clarifying shampoo neither in the Netherlands nor in Germany. I use Lush BIG for deep cleansing. I bought my last bucket in Amsterdam so I know you can get it in the NL.

I haven't found any specifically labeled clarifying or chelating shampoo in The Netherlands or Belgium either (believe me, I've seen a lot of drugstores ).
I would suggest a plain, rather cheap shampoo with not much extra ingredients. You could try to add some citric acid (NL: citroenzuur, vaak te koop als ontkalk product) to it before use. Or bakingsoda (NL: natriumBIcarbonaat/dubbelkoolzuresoda, ook in ouderwetse drogisterijen vaak te krijgen. Gewone soda en bakpoeder zijn iets heel anders!! ).
Or, look for a sample-size bottle of Head and Shoulders, they are usually quite clarifying I think.
When I need a clarify, I usually take my cone-free shampoo and wash repeatedly until my hair feels crispy clean. I might add a ACV-rinse to restore my skin pH and then condition it like normal. My hair usually needs oiling after that, but it will feel clean!

Thanks a lot for your help ladies :-)
I think I will try some head&shoulders or try to find Lush and see if it helps.
Reached classic in 2012. Cut off all my hair summer 2012 to pixie. Buzzed it all off in 2016. Growing since then!
On my way to APL.
LOL ok, so it is called "bakpoeder", but it's not the same as regular baking powder, how confusing!
