Default My experience with Manic Panic over henna

My hair is naturally mousey brown, and I use henna + indigo to achieve this colour in sunlight: http://i.imgur.com/IwUYOw2.jpg

I mixed one tub of Manic Panic's Vampire Red mixed with another tub of Rock N' Roll Red (I wanted slightly pinkish tones) and used just over one tub of the mixture, applied on the 11th June, 2 days after using henna alone (Jamilla) to touch up my roots. I was doing this for a festival, and one of my friends also used Manic Panic, one tub of Rock N' Roll Red, over her henna (her natural colour is mousey brown with blonde highlights and she uses henna alone).

I left the MP on for a little over 1 hour, occasionally blow drying it, and I used white vinegar mixed with the water to rinse it after the water was starting to run nearly clear. It stains so quickly, I had to be on guard the whole time!

The end result is this (taken outside and after 1 wash with conditioner only - I'm the right-hand red-head and my friend is on the left): http://i.imgur.com/4aaN6Uy.jpg and in brighter sunshine: http://i.imgur.com/38ajIJR.jpg .

Now it's been a good couple of weeks since I MP'd and I've washed my hair every other day (shampoo and conditioner) and the result as of last weekend indoors: http://i.imgur.com/ybfpEEQ.jpg.

I am happy with MP, it toned down the orange tones of the henna. It is a bit annoying how much it stains and leaks (the water is still running very pink when I wash my hair even now) but overall I think it was worth the effort!

Gorgeous. I wish I had dark hair. I think it looks amazing.

    Henna gone, at APL now!

That looks lovely! I've been thinking about using MP over my hennaed hair as well, and I like the result from the two dyes you mixed. I may have to copy you there

Oh that is really cool! My coworker uses henna alone and her color is similar to the last photo you have there. I guess everyone's hair takes it differently!
