    Default Turmeric On Hair

Hey all, i was wondering if anyone has used turmeric on hair (for color).

I tried searching the forums here and it seems that the majority of posters said it is not worth the effort because it fades out of the hair fast and it can stain the bathtub.

I also read it can go green and I was wondering if anyone had that happen.

I know there were some pictures of it on mohair or at least they were mentioned, but I couldn'd find any actual pictures.

I'm not sure if I'll use it (I have some in the house), I'd rather hear from others first.

I tried it as a pretty hefty component of my henna mix. It did help with golden tones, but I think if I did it again I'd scale way back on it. It's less gold and more Caution Sign Yellow, and it is very prone to staining skin and the tub, too.

I still have all my old pictures from my herbal experiments, but here's the one with tumeric on mohair

    Wow. That is very yellow.

Hmm, I'm probably going to just think about it for a while.
Cassia and more subtle treatments is probably better.

Aye, I think if you did, say, 100g of cassia and then added in a tablespoon of tumeric you'd amp the yellow without it getting into Caution Sign zone ^_^

    Good idea .
I'll try adding it into the mix you're making for me once I get it (Kidding, I know I havn't offically orderd it yet or even paid).
I think my hair is pretty dark that it wouldn't look too yellow, I do like brassy, which I could see happening.

I was goofing around one day and dipped one of my blonde ends into some turmeric mixed with water. (I didn't even want to color my hair with it, I just wanted to see what would happen ) It turned neon yellow and it took a couple of days to wash out. If you're starting with a darker color it might not be so bright. Cassia might add a subtler yellow and it may have a bit more staying power as well.

    Ooohh thank you salmonberry!
I've decided to test it out, I am a dark blonde/light brown. I'm not using it pure so it shouldn't be too bright.

I really wonder how it worked out for you, as my hair color is similar to yours and I'd like to brighten my hair without any neon-yellow. If you could you post some pictures, it would be super-helpful!

Now I want someone to bleach their ends and use tumeric as a bright dip-dye accent. I bet it would look pretty cool.

(Not on me though, it really wouldn't go with my hair colour at all...)

I'll post some once I do it. I actually am going to test a mix with turmeric on a strand, maybe this week.

It probably would look very cool, at least I'd do it if I was allowed to have colored ends at work.
