It feels like my hair has been at bsl forever and I really want to grow it to my waist.
Is it better to maintain at bsl (I don't want to go shorter because I won't be able to put it up with sticks) until I've got all the damage (bleach) out or to keep growing until I've reached my goal, then maintain?
If you are planning on keeping you hair at goal length, then yes I would keep growing until there, because you will be maintaining once you have reached it.

    And welcome

    Thanks,
I shall keep growing until waist then.
I just wish my hair didn't split, then I could get there in half the time...

I thought and somewhat still think that my hair wasn't growing either, but I think I've just about reached the "can I call this waist" length. I'll wait atleast until the end of this month to be sure, but I am definitely not BSL anymore. Shouldnt be more than half an inch to really be waist now.

And here's the picture to prove it (Ignore my messy hair there. I really should learn to brush my hair pretty for pictures...):

Hip ---- BCL -- TBL -- 100 cm of hair!
Growing my virgin roots since the end of 2011. Maintaining at TBL+ in 2015!

I think you were at CICT waist a half inch ago! Way to go!

Hey gals (and possibly guys!!)! Time to update... looks like I have about an inch or two to go! My goal of waist length by September is looking more plausible all the time!
In a grow and cut cycle...

Lovely! If I were in your shoes I think I'd be calling that waist.

I am trying not to measure mine until the end of the month... I am going to be so bummed if it isn't showing noticeable growth. Sigh. I tried wearing it down a few times this week and every time my little boys were playing in it like it was a jungle vine or tent. :/

    I'm brushing waist straight.

I have a ton of regrowth after anemia induced shedding that makes for insane frizz.

...the urge to chop my hair is nuts. I won't until at least September, but omfg am I not loving my hair right now.

I suppose you've already tried some aloe vera gel for the frizz? I have a lot of breakage frizz around my head, aloe seems to smooth it down nicely.

Very nice! I'd say you're already there

Here's my hair as of a few days ago. I just trimmed a few weeks ago, so my hair is just a bit below BSL. I'll be here for a looong time. Anyway, this was more a, "surprise waves!" moment. My hair is not combed in the pic either... but waves!

No more trims until the new year!
