Hello to all,
I have been lurking here for a long time, joined a while back and never actually posted anything, kinda shy about posting on internet forums. I have learned so much here about how to care for my hair, I decided it was time to introduce myself and participate.
I stumbled across this forum while searching for ways to transition from dyed to silver. My hair length at that time was a bit past shoulder but the years of hair dye, frequent use of the blow dryer, curling iron and general lack of hair friendly practices had taken its toll. My hair wasn't in great shape. I stopped the dye in June of 2011.
My transition process was a bit of a self induced disaster, brought on by trying a new hair stylist who turned out to be extremely scissor happy, and several episodes of color oops and bleach (DIY). It wasn't too many weeks before I was sporting an itty-bitty pixie, which I found I really, really hated. My hair hadn't been that short since I was a year old. I was surprised by how much I missed my hair and unless my hair falls off my head due to some unforseen medical conditon in the future, I wll never cut it that short again.
The upside was that I had nearly 100% virgin hair (with the exception of my bangs) within about 4 months. My hair is now in great shape, and I have grown out all the layers to a bit past chin. I don't think my hair has ever been longer BSL, but I have a goal of WL, if my hair is able get that far.
I look forward to getting to know you all in the future
