Maybe this is a dumb question, but does fractionated coconut oil have the same benefits as unrefined? It seems so many people don't like the smell or have problems with unrefined not melting enough. I received a gift of fractionated and it also has no scent. Any reason this couldn't work as an alternative for others? Until now, I've only used the unrefined but have discovered I like both.

Coconut oil's ability to penetrate the hair shaft, scientifically proven beyond any shadow of doubt or wishful thinking, stems chiefly from its high lauric acid content. Just the right size and shape molecule. It's unfortunately frozen at room temperature and the virgin oil smells rather like coconuts.

Fractionated coconut oil, liquid at room temperature, is what remains when the lauric acids are removed

Refined coconut oil is the real thing, just without the odor.

Not sure if this has been discussed here before, but has anyone tried tamanu oil? I've just recently started using it and although it's too soon to say whether it works for me, I'm quite liking it so far. Doesn't seem to leave my hair feeling dry like coconut oil did once it was rinsed out, and seems to be more "moisturising" than olive oil. Will be interesting to see whether these effects last.
